Some users might have noticed the rel="nofollow" attribute is automatically added to all links in their help center articles as shown in the screenshot below. To improve traffic SEO for their external links, some might wonder whether it is possible to remove this attribute so crawlers also follow said links.

By design, the Kayako application does not let one remove or edit this attribute. Even if one tries to remove or edit it using the source view in the Edit Article page, it will revert back to its original state after saving the changes.

The reason behind this is that Kayako does content purification of tags which ends up adding this attribute. Kayako uses a service called Purifier which is responsible for sanitizing all HTML tags and their respective attributes to ensure there isn't any unsafe code.
