Initiating a Chat Message When Someone Visits a Page in Your Website

Overview

With engagement rules, you can proactively start chat conversations with your customers over Kayako Messenger when they visit a specific page while on your website (3rd party or non-Kayako website).

But first you need to integrate the Kayako Messenger embed script to your website. After adding the messenger embed script, you may configure the engagement rule according to your desired output.

Prerequisites

  • To edit or access the messenger configuration, you will need an administrator account with the 'Manage channels' permission.

Solution

Integrate the Kayako Messenger to your website

NOTE: If you have not configured the Kayako Messenger yet, please see the Configuring the Kayako Messenger article.

  1. Sign in to Kayako and navigate to the admin area.

  2. Click Configure, under the Messenger heading in the sidebar.

  3. Click the '5. Embed code' tab.

  4. Click Copy embed code.

  5. Paste the copied code somewhere and hand it to your web developer.

Your web developer should be able to embed the code into your website. For more information about integrating Kayako Messenger on your website, please visit our developer documentation.

Configure the Engagement rule

Once you have the messenger setup on your website, you may configure the engagement rule by following the steps in the solution section of the Proactively Initiating Chat Conversations With Customers KB.

Note that in your condition, you may include either or both options shown in the sample below:
